All Stories
Process notes, ideas and frames.
Notes from a filmmaking studio.

Studio notes
A face is only the beginning.
Good casting starts with how somebody moves through the world. A photograph can open a conversation, but it cannot tell the whole story.

Studio notes
Tools are not a point of view.
A new tool can speed up a decision. It still needs somebody to decide what the image should say, and why it belongs in the film.

Studio notes
Give the opening a job.
An opening does not have to shout. It has to give the viewer a reason to stay, with an image that already knows where the film is going.

Studio notes
Keep the conversation close.
Zemra is a new production company based in Prishtina, working worldwide. A direct conversation is a good place for a new film to begin.

Studio notes
Find the film in the footage.
The shot list is a plan. The edit is where timing, performance and the space between images turn that plan into something a viewer can feel.

Studio notes
Let a moment finish.
A pause can be an active part of a film. It gives a look, a sound or a change in the frame enough time to become meaningful.

Studio notes
The image should still speak.
Not every viewer hears the first frame. A film can reward listening while still making its essential idea understandable when the sound is off.

Studio notes
Choose the hour with the place.
A location is not a fixed image. The same room or street can feel completely different as the direction, softness and colour of the light change.

Studio notes
A good brief starts a conversation.
You do not need to arrive with a finished film in your head. A clear problem, a few useful constraints and an honest conversation are enough to begin.
